Magnolia Nights

Magnolia NightsMagnolia Nights by Ashley Farley

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ashley Farley has written an unusual story about life in the South from the perspective of three people. There is Ellie, Ashton, and Abbot. There is a mystery to be solved, but not a crime per se. The mystery is what a pathological liar can do to their lives. One can't expound on that because it would give a lot of the plot away. A psychopathic grandmother plays a huge role. One will hate her in an instant. The book is well written. It draws you in. One picks it up to read and a few hours later, the reader finds that the story has come to the end without realizing that it has. One feels the tension and heartaches that the characters are going through. This is a must read and hopefully there will be some sort of sequel.

Perfectly Good Crime

Perfectly Good Crime (A Kate Bradley Mystery)Perfectly Good Crime by Dete Meserve

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Very interesting novel. It is a cross between a crime drama and Women's Fiction. The story is decidedly different than most crime dramas. Can't say much about the crime because the ending would be easy to give away. The main character is fully developed and one can relate to what she is going through with the crime, her boyfriend, the choices she has to make, and her father. The plot keeps you interested from beginning to end. Rest assured you won't be sorry that you read this.

Drawing Lessons by Patricia Sands Release Day is Oct. 1st

Drawing LessonsDrawing Lessons by Patricia Sands

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is my first book that I have read of Patricia Sands, although I connect with her through her newsletter and Facebook page. I needed tissues to get through the story. It isn't in the least bit depressing, but sad in parts and very hopeful in others. One can travel the area of France that the book is set in through the main character. You can smell the flowers and the food in reality, I swear. The descriptions are enlightening. The characters are real. The book is '"magnifique'" or would that be "tres magnifique"? One can't put it down. You will enjoy this novel.

Release Day for The Comfort of Secrets by Christine Nolfi.

The second novel in the Sweet Lake series is a hit in my estimation.  I hope you will read it and agree.  It is a book  about romance, mystery, deception, learning, and grief.  Sweet Lake is a place where one can fancy living in.  Sounds almost like any small hometown in Ohio.  New characters are introduced and are just as entertaining as the previous ones. The author has included the three childhood friends and while this one is based upon only one, there is insight into what is happening in the other two's lives.  Again, the sirens are present.  Don't know what or who the sirens are yet?  You'll have to read this series to gain knowledge of them. The writing is excellent.  The story is both entertaining and a bit sad.  While the book wraps up this particular story, I can't wait until the next one appears.

I've said all this before in an earlier post, but I wanted to make sure everyone knew it was released today.  I hope you will enjoy this book as much as I did.

Blueberry Hill

Another book by Bette Lee Crosby that I read just today in one sitting. I rated it as five stars.
Here is my review:

This is a tear jerker.  Do not read without several boxes of tissues.  As usual Bette Lee Crosby writes a book that is honest, heart-warming, happy, yet sad, and one I couldn't put down.  I actually wished I had a sister, even if it was one like Donna, who wasn't a bad person; just one who was full of life.  Donna had no fear, and I think, some of that lack of fear, in the end, rubbed off on her sister.  One can definitely see the life lessons the author wishes to share with the reader.  Thank you, Bette Lee Crosby for sharing with us this story.

Sweet Tea Tuesdays

Sweet Tea TuesdaysSweet Tea Tuesdays by Ashley Farley

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Excellent story line. Fantastic plot. Very enjoyable. This book is a must read. The author takes the reader on a journey into the lives of three characters, plus others that are connected to the three. There is joy, romance, and sadness contained in a short span of time. Not a book that can be read at bedtime because it is hard to put down. It is a stand alone story, but one could expect the lives of the connected characters to be continued in another book or even a series.

If you haven't read Ashley Farley's series about the Sweeney Sisters, I highly recommend them also.

Andy's 12th Birthday - 4th in Heaven

You are missed little man.  Lots of people remember your smile and your laugh.  Your Dad, even though away from home, ate steak and macaroni and cheese for dinner tonight.  Pampa watched Audrey stirring the cheese on the stove for mac and cheese at your house.

Here is what your Mom said on Facebook:

Happy 12th Birthday buddy!!! Love you so much💚💚💚. We're making homemade chicken nuggets and homemade mac n cheese to celebrate you. I hope you and Grandpa Lorand are making everyone laugh, Grandma Peggy and Grandma Dorothy are spoiling you, and you're playing and having fun with Tyler and all the pets. Miss you lil man!

And what your Dad said:

12 years ago today, my family was blessed with the gift of an angel.
Andrew Joseph Maliner was brought into this world At 5:23am on 5/03/2005. He is and always will be the greatest gift I have ever received.
Image may contain: textI learned many lessons from you son, and I am proud of the life you lived and the joy you brought Kristen and I over the course of your time on earth.
Happy birthday Andy.
Something for you - attached is the license plate that your first car will have when we celebrate your 16th birthday.
As you are in heaven tearing up the those golden streets, just know my little hot rodder, that I will soon be tearing up the streets with you forever and always by my side. Keep that shiny side up, shifting through the gears and the Hammer Down!

Aunt Amy:
I think about you every day, little man. Happy birthday!

Here are thoughts from the people who love you.
