Life on Loan by Ashley Farley

Life on LoanLife on Loan by Ashley Farley

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ashley Farley does it again. A masterpiece. This novel is fantastic. One gets lost in the lives of the two major characters. One feels their sadness, their joy, the wonder of their journey and the agony of being invisible. The plot is unique. Two women who met in college, meet in an airport in Atlanta, and instead of leaving the South for California and Seattle, they swap houses, a vacation home in Virginia for one and a Condo in Charleston for the other. The descriptions of both places are filled with the sights and sounds of the area. A must read for lovers of Women's Fiction.

The Deserter by Nelson DeMille

The DeserterThe Deserter by Nelson DeMille

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nelson DeMille at his finest. A sure bet to be a bestseller. This book did not disappoint. Although it was written with his son, Alex, one would have thought that one could tell that there was a difference, but this story is written in the same manner as all the others. Entertaining, mysterious, and fast-paced. One can imagine that while this is a novel, the plot could be non-fictional. I have read all of DeMille's books and this one is one of my favorites. If you haven't read DeMille before, start with this book. I think that once finished with this story, pick up any other, especially "The Charm School" and Nelson DeMille will become a favorite author.

Wildflower Hope

Wildflower Hope (The Wildflower House #2)Wildflower Hope by Grace Greene

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Excellent sequel. Grace Greene has created a thoughtful novel of life filled with reflection, sadness, love and happiness. Sadness is a predominant theme, although love is abundant Does happiness override the sadness? One will have to read the book to find out. I wanted more from Wildflower Heart and that's what this story gives you. I still don't want the sequels to end.

New from Patricia Sands.

A Season of Surprises at the Villa des Violettes (Book 2)A Season of Surprises at the Villa des Violettes by Patricia Sands

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fabulous book. The sights, sounds, and even smells jump off the page into your heart. The descriptions of the Carnival and the mimosa flowers is outstanding. One can believe they are in France as they take this journey with the characters. The side stories are wonderful and engrossing. There is mystery and romance. This is a wonderful escape from a rainy Ohio.

Moody and the Ghost: Hoist the Jib by Kim Hornsby

Moody & The Ghost - Hoist the Jib (Moody Mysteries Book 4)Moody & The Ghost - Hoist the Jib by Kim Hornsby

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Story is fantastic and so clever. The liberties Kim Hornsby took with the paranormal are priceless. The ending is a shocker and leaves so much room for more of the life of Bryndle and Caspian. Even if you aren't interested in ghostly stories, you will adore this book. Too be published soon. Check out all the other books by Ms. Hornsby if you haven't already.

Wired Truth by Toby Neal

Wired Truth (Paradise Crime #10)Wired Truth by Toby Neal

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This series of Paradise Crime Thrillers by Toby Neal is fast paced, well thought out, and the characters are real. Sophie has been one of my favorite characters since she appeared in the Lei Crime Series. Ms. Neal has made her an enigma. When you think you have figured Sophie out, things happen and life for her goes crazy. One has to read the whole series . I personally want more and I don't want to wait for the next installment. I can imagine what will happen next, but I bet I am wrong. That is what makes this book and series so interesting and entertaining.

The Road She Left Behind by Christine Nolfi

The Road She Left BehindThe Road She Left Behind by Christine Nolfi

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Christine Nolfi has written an engaging family story about love and betrayal. The characters are delightful, even the mean ones. They are real in how they act and think. The setting is very familiar and accurate, especially since I have been to all these spots. In places the book is humorous, sad, and fraught with angst. Once started, it is a page turner. I couldn't put it down and as usual, wished the book took you through birth to old age. I never want any of this authors books to end. It is a must read.

Only One Life by Ashley Farley

Only One Life: A NovelOnly One Life: A Novel by Ashley Farley

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Outstanding. Fantastic. Another hit by Ashley Farley. The plot is unique. Lots of angst. Some characters are lovable and others are downright disgusting. There is lots of sorrow. At times one wants to jump into the story and slap the s#@t out of the nasty ones and even at times, give a stern talking to the good ones. Thanks to this author on always giving the reader a different take on family life.

A Family Affair: The Proposal

A Family Affair: The Proposal (Truth in Lies Book 15)A Family Affair: The Proposal by Mary Campisi

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another Mary Campisi novel in her Family Affair series that is excellent. The plot is unique to her brand of storytelling. The characters are real and yet, not predictable. One could imagine coming from both types of families in the story, the rich and the not so rich, but the riches are defined differently. It isn't money that makes the one family rich. The power of love is what does it. While in a series, it truly could be considered a stand-a-lone novel. I recommend anything Mary Campisi writes.

Moody & the Ghost: Coming About

Moody & The Ghost - COMING ABOUT: Moody Humorous Mystery SeriesMoody & The Ghost - COMING ABOUT: Moody Humorous Mystery Series by Kim Hornsby

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Love, love, love this series. Once again, Kim Hornsby has captured the spirit (pun intended) of romance between a mortal and a ghost. Cannot wait until the next in the series comes out. This book is filled with plot twists that are unusual, mystery, laughter, romance, and strange, but real characters. Being the third in the series, it does not disappoint. I highly recommend this book and anything written by Kim Hornsby.

Going Home (ARC)

Going Home (Chandler Hill Inn Series Book 1)Going Home by Judith Keim

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Home - it means something different to many people. Judith Keim has captured the sense of home in this novel. Well written plot with mystery, romance, tragedy, friendship, and family. Once one picks the book up, one will not want to put it down. I didn't want it to end and can't wait until the second in the series comes out. I am positive that anyone that begins this novel, will want to read all of Ms. Keim's stories. Excellent read and I highly recommend it.

Wired Courage by Toby Neal

Wired Courage (Paradise Crime Book 9)Wired Courage by Toby Neal

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Toby Neal is not your ordinary author. She is not afraid to make the reader upset. At one point in this book, I hated her. What she did to the story was necessary and true to form, but still upsetting. This plot is unique as all of her other stories. One will enjoy all the Wired series. I am guilty of reading them all, but not writing as many reviews as I should. Take the time to read this and the Lei Crime Series. You won't regret it and I hope you love them as much as I do.

The Secret Ingredient by Nancy Naigle

The Secret IngredientThe Secret Ingredient by Nancy Naigle

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Really loved this book. It should be made into a Hallmark movie and come out at Valentine's Day. The characters are precious and delightful. One of the best ideas in this story or for any other is the addition of G.R.A.Y. He is quite precocious. You will have to read the novel to find out who and why he is. The plot is different and exciting. One can't wait to find out what happens next. Will Alex and Kelly repair the damage that one of them has done to the other? Will the secret ingredient mess up their contest? What is the contest about and who will win? Amazing story. One shouldn't miss it.

Moody and the Ghost: Batten Down

Moody & The Ghost: BATTEN DOWN: A Ghostly MysteryMoody & The Ghost: BATTEN DOWN: A Ghostly Mystery by Kim Hornsby

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Don't miss this series. I had to give it a four star, because I don't like cliff hangers. Actually isn't one; it concludes, but I NEED to know what happens next. It is just like the first in the series. The plot is very creative. Characters are real. As I have said before, a ghost in a story usually scares me, but in this series, the ghosts are unusual and while mean at times, they are just short of hilarious. In fact parts of the book are quite funny, especially how Moody interacts with her mother. It was a quick and very interesting read. One will enjoy this lighthearted book.

Home For Wounded Hearts

Home for Wounded HeartsHome for Wounded Hearts by Ashley Farley

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ashley Farley has created PERFECTION in a spin-off of her series, The Sweeney Sisters. It can be read as part of the series or as a stand-a-lone. There is romance in the continuing marriage of Mike and Faith, compassion, mystery, and love between friends. It has an excellent plot with well-developed characters. The characters' personalities are real, not the figment of an author's imagination. The only thing wrong with it is one does not want to think I can start this before I sleep, because at 4 a..m when you finish the book, you'll realize the time. While you are reading, you are engaged in the story and won't even think about putting it down. I highly recommend this story, plus all the others Ms. Farley has written.

A Year of Extraordinary Moments

A Year of Extraordinary Moments (A Magnolia Grove Novel #2)A Year of Extraordinary Moments by Bette Lee Crosby

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the sequel to The Summer of New Beginnings. It is just as great as the first in the series. The plot is well written and although it is done in several voices, one does not get lost. A feel good story in the end. The characters are believable and one falls in love with them. There is mystery and surprises. I highly recommend it.

Previously Loved Treasures

Previously Loved Treasures (Serendipity, #2)Previously Loved Treasures by Bette Lee Crosby

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an excellent story about family, especially how people that aren't related by blood become family. The plot has mystery, romance of sorts, and crime. It is written in different voices, but is easy to follow. There is a uniqueness to the novel with a touch of the paranormal. Well written as usual. This is Bette Lee Crosby's voice at her finest.

Nell and Lady

Nell and Lady: A NovelNell and Lady: A Novel by Ashley Farley

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ashley Farley has written an excellent book again about the life of a family. The family's composition is unusual, consisting of different races, and how they handle both grief and happiness. Time is a spread of thirty some odd years, through teen angst, marriage, divorce, and cancer. There are three generations involved in the plot and the story is told through each ones eyes in different chapters. The plot is unique in some ways and in others, what one might expect. Characters are believable, as are the situations they become involved in. If you want ordinary this isn't for you, but none of Ms. Farley's stories are ordinary.
